Extract from the Beginning of the Chancellor's Speech
Ladies and Gentlemen, Members of the University Community:
Greetings! It is my pleasure to welcome you as we begin the thirty fourth year in the history of the United Arab Emirates University. I thank all of you for your sincere and continued efforts on behalf of the university. I am hopeful the new academic year will be another year of unity, cooperation, and hard work in our continuing quest to transform the UAE University into a prominent research university in the region and the world.
I especially welcome Professor Andrew Hamilton, Vice Chancellor of the University of Oxford and his colleagues. Thank you, Professor Hamilton, for joining us today. I hope your visit will be the beginning of fruitful cooperation between Oxford and UAE University.
Ladies and gentlemen, we begin this new academic year with high optimism and strong confidence in the bright future of this university. This future is based on our clear vision of the university's leadership role in the progress and development of the country. This vision is focused on student success and emphasizes the value of research and its role in shaping the university's future as a leading center of innovation in the United Arab Emirates. It is a clear vision that strives for an advanced position among the universities of the world and closely links the UAE University with useful developments around the globe.
