Faculty Members

Faculty members in the UAE University are holders of doctorate degrees from accredited Institutions. The faculty academic titles are: Professor, Associate Professor and Lecturer. The later is equivalent to the title of Assistant Professor in American Universities. The total number of Faculty members in the University during the spring semester of 2010/2011, was 672 in addition to a number of visiting faculty.

 

Instructors & Research Assistants

The University has positions of supporting teaching staff. Instructors are master's degree holders. Research Assistants hold Bachelor degrees. The latter must have shown appropriate academic achievements during their studies as reflected in their graduation grade point average (GPA).

 

National Teaching Assistants

National teaching assistants are the potential future faculty members at the University. They are appointed according to a definite time plan to fill faculty positions with nationals of the country. These assistants must have shown scholarly potential during their undergraduate education. The University sponsors their graduate education. There were 54 national teaching assistants, during the spring semester of the academic year 2010/2011. The following table provides statistics of the faculty members and teaching support staff in the University as of the spring semester of the academic year 2010/2011.

Male and Female Students

There were 12,279 students registered at the University. Enrolled male students represented 25%, while female students represented 75% of the entire student population. The distribution of the enrolled students across the various faculties has been presented in the following table.
