Zayed Book Award Board
Two new board members were selected as trustees for the Sheikh Zayed Book Award Contest, with H. E. Dr Abdullah Al-Khanbashi, Vice Chancellor of the UAE University, and H. E. Mubarak Al Muhairi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, being appointed as new members by H. H. Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH), and Chair of the Zayed Book Award Board.
Other members of the board are H. E Zaki Nusseibeh, Vice Chairman of (ADACH); H. E. Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Director General of (ADACH); and H. E. Juma Al Qubaisi, Deputy Director General at (ADACH) of National Library Affairs.
Role of the Board of Trustees
The role of the board of trustees comprises setting general policies, achieving goals and objectives, and managing the affairs of the Award. The new board also has the power to appoint its Secretary General.
His Highness also announced that the board of trustees shall take any decision which grants or withholds the award in any of its nine categories, each overseen by a committee of three judges or a referee, in addition to any decisions pertaining to adding or omitting prizes.
Award Categories
The nine categories are: best contribution to the development of nations; children's literature; young author; translation; literature; fine arts; best technology in the field of culture; best publishing house; and cultural personality of the year.
Nominations for the award will continue until October 1. Winners are to be announced in February 2012.
