The incumbent UAEU Provost, Dr. Mohamed Yousef, said: “It gives me great pleasure to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Nahayan Mubarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and UAEU Chancellor, for this trust and I consider it a mandate to serve the university and the country.”

He added further: “I will devote all my time, effort and my knowledge to serve the university and its goals so it occupies a prominent place among others.”

“In this framework, I’m pleased to work with His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Al Khanbashi, Vice Chancellor and the University community to develop plans that help to elevate the academic, scientific and administrative aspects.”

“Regarding the academic aspect, there are intensive academic programs focusing on the scientific side. We also have well prepared and qualified students but they need to develop their practical skills to prepare them to meet the labor market demands through enriching their educational programs for the different skills: such as leadership, communication skills and using the new technologies. In addition it is necessary to enhance their educational and practical circumstances and improve their self-training to be capable to serve the country.”

Dr. Mohamed continued: “As for scientific research, there is capable scientific faculty at UAEU. We are very proud of them, as they are involved in reputable scientific research. This faculty should work in scientific groups to form a base for specialized scientific centers such as vital biotechnology, renewable energy, strategic studies and economic development.

“As for higher studies, specified standard requirements should be applied for admission and graduation and to facilitate admission procedures.”

Dr. Mohamed concluded: “In the administrative arena, UAEU has qualified faculty and staff, these need to coordinate and work as a unified team; and the deans and unit directors shall be the focus of academic decision making. The role of the provost office shall be supportive to their resolutions.”
