FIFA U-17 World Cup UAE 2013 Comes to UAEU
United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) welcomed the promotion of the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup UAE 2013 at the University campus in Al Ain. The tour of the Cup includes the six cities which will host the tournaments: Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. UAEU was their first stop in Al Ain to create awareness among the students of the championship which will be hosted from October 17th to November 8th. The promotion campaign was organized by the Supreme Local Committee with the aim to attract a large number of supporters to attend the tournament, ensuring the success of this international event.
The Championship Cup was displayed inside a large tent on the male campus, where students got to practice their football skills, in addition to other entertainment shows.
The event was inaugurated by HE. Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, UAEU Vice Chancellor and attended by management representatives, Mr. Ibrahim Mokhtar, Manager of UAEU Athletic Team, Mr. Abdulla Al Sharfi, Coordinator of the Protocol Unit of Al Ain Group as well as a number of faculty members, staff and students. It was a good opportunity for the students to have a memorial photo taken with the cup.
Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, an avid football supporter, commended the promotion of the tournament by displaying the cup in the six hosting cities. He said, "We are committed to the success of this international event and will actively encourage the students to attend the competitions with their families and friends.” He indicated that the UAEU sport complex is well equipped to host the training of the participating teams of Al Ain Group.
