Formatting references in research articles using Zotero

Workshop Brief Description Zotero is a free software program for researchers, similar to Endnote. Zotero enables one-click importing of references from websites such as Google Scholar. Zotero can then insert citations to references into a Microsoft Word document in specific journal styles such as APA, Harvard, MLA and many others. Zotero is a ‘must’ for researchers as it helps organize background reading as well as storing PDF’s, even before you start writing your thesis.

Learning objectives:

  1. Import references from websites into Zotero
  2. Insert citations into a Microsoft Word document.


Bring your Windows or Mac laptop with Firefox ( and Zotero ( installed before the workshop. Ensure your laptop is fully charged, as the room may not have convenient power sockets.
