Graduate Student Development Program

Offers a Workshop on Formatting references in research articles using Zotero

Workshop Details

2:00 – 4:00 PM
Tuesday; February 21, 2017
Room 136, Building F3

Target Audience

This workshop is for graduate students and research assistants, especially those who may be using Endnote and would consider Zotero as a better alternative.

Workshop Leader

Dr. M. Jawad Hashim
Associate Professor
Department of Family Medicine, College of Medicine and Health Sciences

Workshop Description

Zotero is a free software program for researchers, similar to Endnote. Zotero enables one-click importing of references from websites such as Google Scholar. Zotero can then insert citations to references into a Microsoft Word document in specific journal styles such as APA, Harvard, MLA and many others. Zotero is a ‘must’ for researchers as it helps organize background reading as well as storing PDF’s, even before you start writing your thesis.

Learning objectives:

  1. Import references from websites into Zotero
  2. Insert citations into a Microsoft Word document.

Resources

Bring your Windows or Mac laptop with Firefox (www.mozilla.org) and Zotero (www.zotero.org) installed before the workshop. If you need assistance with Zotero installation, please contact UITS Help Desk (Email: Helpdesk@uaeu.ac.ae Tel: 7136111). Ensure your laptop is fully charged, as the room may not have convenient power sockets.
