UAEU and Khalifa Fund signed MOU for Food Innovation Program (FIP)
The Khalifa Fund in partnership with UAEU established an effective business incubation program for
the food sector to help foster an entrepreneurial culture among local female Emiratis. FIP caters for:
Farmers looking to develop value-added products; restaurant owners interested in producing products
for retail sale (salad dressings and sauces); talented bakers or cooks who want to sell their products;
and anyone looking to start a food business.
Community Outreach
- UAEU Students Donate Over One Hundred Thousand Dirhams to Support Families in Need
UAEU presented a cheque worth AED 110,470 to the UAE Red Crescent to support families in need.
The amount of money raised was the outcome of a campaign organized by team ‘Abshiru’ at UAEU, in
collaboration with the Student Red Crescent Club and Students Activities and Leadership Department.
The campaign sponsored by Her Highness Sheikha Shamsa bint Zayed Al-Nahyan, was a charity
exhibition that lasted for 3 days and included fashion shows and shops selling clothes, perfumes and
food.
- New Unit for Assessment & Remediation for People with Disabilities
The Department of Special Education at UAEU has established a new Assessment and Remedial Unit
(ARU) for people with disabilities. The unit will assist students, as well as individuals from the local
community, who are identified as potentially having a disability or are referred to the unit for screening.
The services to be provided by the new unit include: counseling for students with disabilities and the
local community; assessment and remedial services; and student training. The unit also plans to host
a number of workshops, training and conferences to raise awareness about special education.
