The University has two libraries, the main library at the Crescent Building, for UAEU students, faculty and staff and Zayed
Library, which serves all students and faculty, as well as the community. Students can use their iPads, laptops or a library
computer to search the library homepage to make inquiries and access information resources that include books,
ebooks, journals, databases, manuscripts, microforms and audio-visual collections. A team of qualified reference
librarians are available to assist students and other users with their research.
The library has the largest collection of electronic resources in the Arab World, of which many are high-level scholarly
works from top international academic publishers. This collection is on par with any university or research institution in
the world, which makes the library a reputable leader among academic libraries in the region. In addition, the special
collections at UAEU libraries constitute a sizable collection of Emirates and GCC materials, including a dedicated
Sheikh Zayed section, which can be characterized as a component of the University’s identity along with a British
archive which documents the dealings and history of the GCC countries for the past 200 years.
Also on display are very rare Qur’an manuscripts with gold engraving and photographs of the Emirates and their
rulers dating back to the 1960’s. In addition, the library hosts the American Corner in the main library, serving the
academic research needs of UAEU students and faculty, preparing students who wish to study higher education in the
United States, and a Children’s Corner at Zayed Library that actively promotes literacy initiatives to hundreds of school
children throughout the year.
