UAEU Students excel in Higher Education Institutions Taekwondo

The Taekwondo championship hosted by the “UAE University” in the Gymnastics arena at the new campus in “Al Ain” city was concluded on Monday (17/2/2014). (22) Players from (5) educational institutions; the “University of Sharjah”, “Ajman University of Science and Technology” “American University of Sharjah Higher Colleges of Technology”, the “University of Jazeera” and participated in the championship organized by the “Higher Education Sports Federation”.

The tournament was held in (7) different weights, the “University of Sharjah” took the first ranking and the gold medal with five participants, including the students “Taha Hussain” for (87) Kg, “Mohammed Abdel Qader” below (87) Kg, “Shaikh Lawah” for (80) Kg came in second place and took the silver medal, “Talal Zaher” (68) Kg, and (63) Kg “Khalil Ali Akber” took the silver medal too.                     

The “UAE University” achieved the second rank and silver medal in the general ranking, besides five medals in (5) weight categories, as follows:  the student “Ahmed Ben Karwadeh” for (74) Kg won the golden medal, the silver medal was won by both “ Ahmed Taqaleh” (87) Kg and “Mohannad Adel Jad” below (87) Kg, the bronze medal was won by both “Omar Ali Al Naqbi” (80) Kg and “Abed el Ghani Mubark” (63) Kg.

“Ibrahim Mukhtar Ahmed” Manger of the “Sport Activities – Male” said that the university has shown a high managerial and organizing ability in hosting such an important championship, while thanking Professor “Ghaleb Ali Alhadrami” deputy VC for Student Affairs, for providing financial and moral support, the team’s coach “Adnan Bu Khimeh” and the university sports activities Coordinator  “Mohsen Abdel Adeem” for their efforts in organizing the championship and training the team, he also thanked Dr. “Omar Al Hai” from the “Higher Education Sports Federation” for supplying the championship with the equipment and international referees to insure the success of such an important sports event.
