UAEU Vice Chancellor Addresses More than 2,000 Staff at the Annual Convocation Ceremony

His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, Vice Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), delivered a speech during the annual convocation officially heralding the start of the 2014/15 academic year. He conveyed the greetings of His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of UAEU, to the assembled faculty and staff wishing them more academic success, continued excellence and wise leadership in the service of the UAE.
The Vice Chancellor also welcomed the deans of various colleges of business and economics from other GCC countries who were participating in the annual convocation. This was an opportunity to reaffirm cooperation, renew contacts and to urge continued efforts to enhance the reputation and prestige of the university by further enhancing UAEU’s record of significant achievements to date.
Dr. Al Noaimi stressed the importance of continuing to work as a team. To date the university has made great strides and obtained consistently high rankings for higher education and scientific research, as well as recognition for enhanced academic methodology and for gaining international institutional accreditation for various programs.
He also highlighted the university's commitment to recently adopted policies and procedures that are being applied in both academic and administrative sectors. This includes making being student-centered a strategic priority. This is of strategic importance as UAEU was founded with students in mind and in order to help them build and serve the country.
Dr. Al Noaimi concluded his speech by emphasizing the importance of strengthening the relationship between students and faculty. Faculty members are responsible for advising students and guiding them through their disciplines during office hours, as well working with research groups that help to serve the university, and wider community, in various fields thanks to their contributions to research and scientific discovery.
