The Deanship of the Library at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) organized a student induction, to explain the services and variety of information sources available to students. These services are available to students, faculty, staff, and other members of the university community.

The librarian, Asma Al Khateeri, gave a presentation on the principles of library research methodology and how users could take advantage of the library’s many excellent resources. She discussed some of the challenges faced by research students and how the library and librarians could help researchers to circumvent these issues. Thanks to the library’s diverse resources users can access information easily through a keyword search, such as looking up a title, author or topic and thus making the search for information quick and accurate.

She also spoke about the library’s LIWA service. This site covers the three national higher education institutions (UAEU, Zayed University and the Higher Colleges of Technology). Researchers can access resources from any of these libraries through the LIWA service.

She also noted that the UAEU library has more than 500,000 printed titles, 170,000 e-books and 40,000 scientific journals. Researchers can make use of a diverse range of resources by accessing books, newspapers, magazines, databases and e-books, as well as using the e-brary and Simon sites to search for books and specific resources.
