His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Qatabi, Oman’s Ambassador to the UAE, stressed the deep fraternal and historic ties between Oman and the UAE, during a ceremony held to honor Omani students studying in the UAE. This ceremony was arranged by the Omani Embassy to celebrate Omani Youth Day. It was hosted by UAEU in Al Ain in the crescent building theater. Professor Ghaleb Ali Al Hadrami, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment, Dr. Mahmoud El Salimi, Cultural Attaché from the Embassy of Oman and both embassy and university staff honored outstanding Omani students from various universities and higher education institutions in the UAE.

His Excellency, the Omani Ambassador, stated that celebrating outstanding students confirms a commitment to the next generation and is part of the implementation of a longer term vision and strategic policies that support young people and encourage their ultimate success. It also highlights a desire to encourage young people into leadership roles and to allow them to keep up to date and take advantage of the latest scientific developments.

His Excellency the Ambassador thanked the UAE and expressed his appreciation of its leadership, government and people for embracing Omani students studying at UAE universities. This demonstrates the strength of the brotherly relationship between the two countries. He also thanked UAEU’s management and students for patronizing and arranging this successful event.

Professor Ghaleb Ali Al Hadrami added that the university always supports outstanding students and encourages them to continue their scientific education to strive for excellence. He was quoted as saying, “we always take pride in taking part in events that support young people because leadership and striving for excellence is the vision of the United Arab Emirates University; the university adopts the highest international standards in its educational approach, and has many students from countries around the world in order to help them to become future leaders who will give service to their countries and beyond.”
