The Department of Mass Communications in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) recently organized an exhibition on the various features of UAE society. The exhibition was opened by Professor Saif Al Qaydi, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences in the Crescent Building at UAEU. The event was attended by female students from the course on UAE Society being supervised by Dr. Mai Al Khajah, an Associate professor in the Department.

Professor Saif Al Qaydi expressed his pride in the students on this course for presenting the most important historical, geographical, developmental, political, social and economic factors that help to highlight processes by which the citizens and government of the UAE are further building the country. He noted that the university is continuously striving to strengthen national identity through various activities and events that can instill a sense of patriotism in the hearts of today's students who will also be leaders in the future.

He also thanked Dr. Mai Al Khajah for her academic and supervisory role in the development of the students’ respective skills and abilities, in particular in the fields of media and leadership. He was impressed by their excellent presentations, which help in the preparation of future graduates to become leaders and pioneers.

Dr. Al Khajah commented on student projects that addressed the most important features of the UAE. This covered many areas such as hydropower, solar, electric and nuclear power and green economy initiatives. One such initiative is the Emirates Green Building Council. She also mentioned several areas of economic, social, and demographic development, which show the difference between the older and more modern aspects of the UAE and reflects the creativity that characterizes UAEU students.

The students participating in the exhibition were: Reem Al Zaabi, Afra Ibrahim, Sultana Al Zubaidi, Shamsa Hasan, Aisha Al Shehhi, Reem Sultan, Aisha Al Darmaki, Latifa Al Kaabi, Reem Al Kaabi, Njood Abdulaziz, Aisha Mohammed, Shama Hasan, Reem Al Ameri and Fatima Al Amiri, all of whom contributed to promoting various subjects of national priority to the UAE.
