The College of Education at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) organized its 8th educational research conference on Tuesday 9^th December 2014. It was attended by faculty and staff from the college as well as representatives from the Khalifa Award for Education, the Hamdan Bin Rashid Award for Distinguished Academic Performance, the Abu Dhabi Education Council and also students from UAEU. The forum was held in the crescent building theater at the university.

The aim of this forum is to strengthen the culture of research by supporting research that serves national education in the UAE. It also seeks to improve strategic partnerships between UAEU and other educational authorities. As such, the forum facilitates communication between university students and the authorities who support educational research, such as the Khalifa Award for Education and the Hamdan Bin Rashid Award for Distinguished Academic Performance. The forum encourages sound research practices that reflect an awareness of the importance of educational research that seeks to study, understand and develop solutions to the many challenges facing education in the UAE.

Dr. Ali Al Kaabi, Vice Dean of the College of Education, stated that this forum acts as an opportunity to unearth research talent and that such opportunities establish links between student researchers and the other institutions. This also helps to promote a culture of research in the student body and is a chance to build on strategic partnerships with various other educational institutions.

The forum was divided into four sessions that presented and discussed summaries of research conducted by both Bachelor’s and Master’s students. Additionally, the best research projects were awarded either the Khalifa Award for Education or the Hamdan Bin Rashid Award for Distinguished Academic Performance. The winners, and indeed the participating institutions, were honored at the closing of the 8^th Research Forum.
