Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), Professor Mohamed Albaili, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (Provost), inaugurated the 34^th Conference of Arab Organization for Admission and Registration of Universities in Arab Nations (Arab-ACRAO) in the crescent building of the UAEU campus in Al Ain.

Professor Albaili stated that this conference coincides with the UAE’s Year of Innovation – an initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE – and is part of the Federal Government’s strategic plan (launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai).

Professor Albaili stressed that the conference sessions focused on core values in the field of student affairs and registration. This involves the provision of international standard educational services that focus on the key stakeholders in the educational process, namely, the students.

Ms. Sanabel Mohammed Al Duwaisan, Deputy Secretary General of ACRAO, thanked UAEU for hosting the conference, stressing UAEU’s active role in higher education and scientific research at both regional and global levels.

The conference was divided into two sessions: the first tackled the use of technology, highlighting electronic systems that help students in selecting their major. The second session looked at admission and registration procedures, their quality assurance standards and assessment mechanisms.
