The 34th Conference of Arab Organization for Admission and Registration of Universities in Arab Nations (Arab-ACRAO), hosted by the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) as part of the UAE’s Year of Innovation, helped in the exchange of experiences and knowledge with regard to admissions and registration mechanisms.
Mr. Saud Al Ameri, Director of the Enrollment Deanship at UAEU, highlighted the participation of nearly 300 specialists in the field during the closing session. At this session the University of Sharjah was chosen to host the 35th Arab ACRAO Conference in 2016, while UAEU and Sultan Qaboos University were tasked with the creation of a web portal for the association. Elections for the 2015-16 Executive Committee were also held.
Mr. Al Ameri discussed the main recommendations of the conference to be put into action from the 15th of May until 30th of December. These include four main stages: the first is preparing an action plan; accrediting the Executive Committee, the rotation of posts and finally presenting the results to the committee. The University of Jordan and Palestine University were asked to update the association’s statutes and working procedures in order to keep abreast of developments and international standards. Egyptian and Sudanese universities were charged with establishing a committee to develop a strategic plan to keep up to date with the various demands of the admissions and registration field.
