The Student Activities Department (female campus) in the Student Affairs and Enrollment Section at the United Arab Emirates University organized events for World Heritage Day recently. A visiting delegation from the University of Florida (USA), employees and students attended the event on the evening of Tuesday 21st April, 2015 in the theater of the Crescent Building in Al Ain.
Ms. Khadija Al Naqbi, Head of the Student Affairs Deanship at UAEU, pointed out that such events are part of the university’s preparation of graduates to encourage extra-curricular activities and participation in community events. Through such events students broaden their appreciation of different cultures and traditions.
She added that UAEU’s female Emirati students were taking the opportunity to share their culture and heritage with others as part of an acknowledgement of commonly shared values and aesthetics. This was achieved through participation in theatrical productions and a heritage-based fashion show.
Ms. Moza Al Ketbi, Head of the Student Activities Department on the female campus, stressed the importance of presenting the rich heritage of the UAE as a way to promote national identity, national values, traditions and heritage. She further stressed that such events send out a positive message about the engaging and tolerant view of Arab culture.
