Female students from the Mass Communications Department at the United Arab Emirates University organized a lecture entitled “Trade in the Process of Evolution” on Monday 20^th April, 20015, as part of their graduation project “Insta business”. Dr. Aisha Al Nuaimi, Associate Professor in the Department of Mass Communications, College of Humanities and Social Sciences; Dr. Mohamed Al Zaabi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Private Law, College of Law, and Dr. Bassam Khatib, Associate Professor from the College of Business and Economics as well as a number of students attended the lecture in the theater of the College of Information Technology (Female Campus).

Dr. Al Nuaimi thanked the students for their efforts. This topic is gaining in importance as many changes take place in society. E-commerce has become a very effective tool ever since the number of social network users has increased. It is attractive due to its ease and low costs in comparison to traditional marketing.

Dr. Mohamed Al Zaabi stated that the UAE’s investment in this area is expected to reach 35 billion dirhams by the year 2018. This is due to the availability of data essential for trade, advances in education, improvements in infrastructure and means of communication. He noted that the UAE supports e-commerce projects by facilitating access to commercial licenses that protect both merchants and consumers. For example, the ‘Mubdiah License’ in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi costs 50% less than for other businesses. Additionally the government provides marketing assistance and other discounts.
