The College of Law at the United Arab Emirates University will hold a seminar entitled, “Legal Aspects Relating to the Disabled” on Tuesday April 21^st, 2015, in the theatre of the College of Information Technology (male campus) in Al Ain.

The seminar will discuss legislation and the conventions dealing with the rights of the disabled, including Federal Law 29 (2006), concerning the rights of people with special needs – amended as Federal Law 14 (2009), which replaced the phrase disabled person with the term special needs.

The seminar will address the legal basis for preventing discrimination on the basis of disability and certain guarantees concerning of the rights of the disabled. It will also deal with disability issues in terms of civil and criminal liability and the available legal assistance. Examples will be provided of the real experiences of people with disabilities who are studying and working professionally.
