As part of the United Arab Emirates University’s vision of striving towards excellence in engineering and applied research, engineering graduates presented their graduation projects for academic year 2015-2016 on Wednesday 9th of December 2015. This was held on campus in the presence of faculty from the college.
In total there were 287 students who presented 75 graduation projects. These were submitted to the relevant committees to ascertain that they were in line with international standards (EBIT) depending on engineering discipline; i.e. mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical, environmental and petroleum engineering. The college prepares graduates to be leaders in various engineering disciplines and to conduct research and innovate in areas of national and regional importance. These projects focus on strategic priorities that aid the sustainable development of sectors such as aviation, oil, renewable energy, information technology, telecommunications, transportation, infrastructure, health science technology, metals and agricultural engineering.
The college attempts to maintain academic excellence in accordance with international standards and to strengthen partnerships with industrial enterprises that can finance graduate projects and ensure the promotion of research to support a knowledge economy and enhance competition and innovation among graduate students.
Every graduate from the College of Engineering must complete 270 hours of work each year to meet the requirements of the graduation project course. This is an integrated course taught over two semesters. It has 6 credit hours for projects related to industry. The students are sponsored to deal with realistic industrial problems and to try to find solutions to these issues. They then submit a final report, including original models, that indicates their suitability to work in those specific areas.
