The Center for Career Placement and Alumni at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) organized workshops on Professional Readiness, Time Management and Work Pressure for vocational training students. These workshops were held in the presence of Dr. Sulaiman Al-Kaabi, Assistant Dean for Professional Development in the College of Sciences for more than 240 students over two days in the College of Information Technology.
The workshops were opened by Dr. Sulaiman Al Kaabi who explained the importance of vocational training and how it develops skills and abilities, discovers talent and helps to build a link between academic and theoretical fields on the one hand, and practical applications of those theories on the other. This helps students to be ready for the labor market.
Dr. Sufian Abu Rmaileh delivered a speech regarding the Professional Readiness Program in which he discussed the stages of effective CV writing where the students should focus on career goals and highlight their educational qualifications, training courses taken and abilities. He also talked about the start of one’s career, especially the stage where candidates need good personal and interview skills. Finally he described the types of professional behavior an employee should possess.
The Time Management and Work Pressure lecture was delivered by Rashid Bainuna Al-Ketbi who pointed out how people waste time. He showed practical illustrations of how to save such time: for example by planning a weekly schedule for better time management, the Eisenhower Box, other methods of time management (e.g. the ABCD model) and the control and analysis mechanisms that people use.
