The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) welcomed 228 freshmen students for the second semester of the 2014/2015 academic year on Tuesday, January 27^th. They were welcomed by Professor Mohamed Albaili, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (Provost), in the presence of many parents and representatives of a variety of colleges departments from UAEU.

Professor Albaili conveyed the greetings of His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of UAEU, who wished the students every success in their studies. He also conveyed the wishes of His Excellency Dr. Ali Al Noaimi, UAEU Vice Chancellor, to the students as they take their first steps at university.

Professor Albaili said that this was the beginning of the future and a chance to set goals and put into place the building blocks of excellence and leadership. He urged the students to make a positive contribution in their various fields and to take responsibility for the development and future prosperity of the UAE.

This celebration is part of the orientation program known as “Marhaba Alssaa”, which prepares new students for university life and integrates them into their new circumstances. This is achieved through a variety of activities throughout the week including a student reception ceremony, a variety of sports and recreational programs and other activities organized by the Student Affairs and Enrolment Section for both male and female students in residence.
