The Al-Maktoum College in Dundee, Scotland launched its Summer Program for 2015 on the evening of Tuesday 30^th June in the administration building at the United Arab Emirates University in Al Ain. It was launched in the presence of Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, Vice Chancellor of UAEU; Dr. Mirza Al Sayegh, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education; Dr. Reyadh Al-Mehaideb, Vice President of Zayed University; representatives of national universities in the UAE; the executive body supervising the program, female students and their parents.

His Excellency Dr. Al Noaimi addressed the students and said that His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, has launched many charitable initiatives to build bridges between cultures: especially between the Western and Islamic worlds. This allows for a convergence of views, constructive dialogue, and the dissemination of Islamic and Arabic culture in other countries. The Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education in Scotland is one such example.

Dr. Al-Noaimi added that His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who wishes to promote the abilities of Emirati women in order to use them in the service of the country, is a firm believer that dialogue can help to present the civilized face of Arab and Islamic culture. He also stressed that Al-Maktoum College enriches the students’ knowledge, understanding and skills in terms of leadership skills, understanding the role of women in Islam, globalization, and many other fields.

His Excellency Dr. Mirza Al Sayegh, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Al Maktoum College of Higher Education, emphasized that the program, thanks to the support of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has seen remarkable growth. The 2015 Summer Program 2015, which will be launched next month, will host 5 students from the College of Business and Economics from Cairo University and also students from the University of Malaysia.

Dr. Al Sayegh explained that the female students participating in the program were good ambassadors of the UAE as they represented the civilized face of the UAE. The program is divided into three major parts: the first is theoretical studies, the second is field work and the third gives students the opportunity to meet with senior Scottish officials and visit historical and tourist areas. In addition, the Summer Program offers different tracks such as a Diploma in Economics and Islamic Banking, an Islamic Studies Program, a Leadership Program, and various languages programs.
