Students of the College of Engineering at UAE University presented their graduation projects over two consecutive days (2^nd and 4^th) of June, where 291 students discussed 75 projects within the Integrated Design Course, which is taught over two consecutive semesters, with 6 credit hours in the last year of the academic program plan of the College of Engineering.

Dr. Nabil Bastaki, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, said: "The aim of this course is to give the student a real experience in design through making use of basic sciences acquired during the years of study in making modern products, producing new devices, or developing existing operations". Dr. Bastaki added: "It is known that industry-sponsored projects adopt real dilemmas and problems in the practical life and provides real challenges which achieve public benefit for the companies, students and faculty members. From this point of view the graduation project is a joint cooperation project between faculty, students and the industry for the application of design engineering with professional qualities for community service".

The industry companies benefit from the students, who work 270 working hours on a project specializing in the industry, where the student interacts with the industrial problems with a different vision to create new opportunities for solving them. And provide the opportunity of attracting these students that are expected to graduate to work for these institutions. Industrial companies can also take advantage of the University’s resources through the students such as computing and library resources and the expertise of faculty members.

Many student projects focused on environmental solutions and alternative and sustainable energy such as: design and manufacture of a water desalination system with solar energy, Automatic Solar-powered Golf cart, and hydrogen production project from natural sources, in addition to projects in the field of medicine, such as: a project of a center for kidney dialysis, ECG machine project based on a tablet Smartphone, in addition to vital projects in industry and energy.
