His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), chaired the third meeting of the University Council for the academic year 2014/2015, on Wednesday the 24^th of June, at the office of his Excellency at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Abu Dhabi.

The University Council includes his Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, his Excellency Hussein Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, her Excellency Noura Mohammed A-Kaabi, Member of the Federal National Council, Chief Executive Officer of TwoFour54, his Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Hajeri, Chief Executive Officer of Tawazun Holdings, his Excellency Abdulla Nasser Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Board, Al-Nasser Holdings and Group of Companies, Aysha Abdullah Taryam, Editor-in-Chief of The Gulf Today, his Excellency Eissa Abdulfattah Kazim, Governor of the Dubai International Financial Center, his Excellency Dr. Mohammed Ali Al Sheryani, Director of the Department of Community Affairs, his Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, Vice Chancellor of UAE University, Dr. Mohamed Albaili, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Butti Sultan Al Muhairi , College of Law, Dr. Fatima Abdulbaqi Al Jasmi , College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. Asma Abubaker Al Menhali, College of Science, and Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Suwaidi from the College of Education, Dr. Ann Ferine, Dr. André Sarsok, Dr. Stanley Eikenberry and Dr. William Kirwan.

The University Council members commended the scientific and research renaissance taking place at UAEU which is in accordance with the aspirations of his Excellency, the University’s Chancellor and the University’s goals and strategic plan to better serve the citizens youth and supplement the national labor market with qualified national competencies and experiences.

A series of decisions that contribute to the completion of the process of leadership and innovation in the field of higher education and scientific research at the regional and local levels were adopted and in the forefront is the adoption of the policy of admission for the academic year 2015/2016, the revision of the policies and procedures of the College of Medicine And Health Sciences, the draft budget for the fiscal year 2016, the budget and final accounts for the financial year 2013, the report of the financial audit for the fiscal year 2014, and other topics related to the institutional accreditation of the University.
