His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, Vice Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University, met with his Excellency Kanji Fujiki, Ambassador of Japan to the UAE. They discussed developing cultural, scientific and research relations between UAEU and universities and other educational institutions in Japan.

Dr. Al Noaimi welcomed the visit of the Japanese Ambassador and gave a detailed description of the university and its various departments. He also discussed several cultural and social events in the presence of Mr. Shinji Suzuki, the Second Secretary for Cultural Relations and Information in the Japanese Embassy.

Dr. Al Noaimi expressed UAEU’s readiness for fruitful and constructive cooperation with universities and academic institutions in various fields (science, culture and research) in order to achieve the goals and vision of both parties. This includes academic and faculty exchange programs, where UAEU will host students, researchers and specialists from around the world for study, research and training.

The Vice Chancellor stressed that the university is interested in teaching students different languages and has built specialized centers for this purpose in cooperation with the embassies of the countries concerned. This includes Japan. A student club has been founded, called Sakura, which handles student, cultural and social exchanges with Japanese students. Additionally, Japanese language is taught to UAEU students.

He further added thatseveral study trips and training courses have been organized abroad to enrich the students and develop their abilities and skills.

The Japanese Ambassador stressed the need for cooperation in order to serve the objectives of the two parties, particularly in the area of technology. This is especially important as there are agreements and joint cooperation between the two parties in the areas of clean energy, research and technical centers.

Ambassador Kanji Fujiki expressed his pleasure in visiting UAEU and said that he was impressed by the university, its academic programs, educational facilities and the scientific and technical level of the courses offered and research conducted.
