The United Arab Emirates University’s sports teams continued to perform well in the Abu Dhabi Inter-University Sports League and Higher Education Sports Federation Championship with many teams coming first or placing well in basketball, volleyball, soccer and tennis. In the volleyball final, held at New York University’s playing fields in Abu Dhabi, the UAEU team defeated Al- Khawarizmi International College by 2 sets to 0 to win the tournament overall.The UAEU basketball team beat Abu Dhabi University 26 to 21 and won the bronze medal by coming third.

In the Abu Dhabi Inter-University Sports League football competition the UAEU team won a difficult and exciting match against Abu Dhabi University by one goal to zero. This result put the UAEU side through to the final match against New York University.

In the Higher Education Sports Federation Tennis Championship, also held at New York University, the UAEU won the title with an excellent performance against the American University in Sharjah team. The victorious team members were Abdullah Al Hashimi, Abdulaziz Al Yafie, Burhanuddin Ahmed, Rabie Barakeh and Iyad Swan.
