The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), in collaboration with and funded by, Dassault Aviation, is working on a joint research project dedicated to studying Fault Tolerant Control Laws for Combat Aircraft. This mutually beneficial research activity is part of a cooperative framework agreement signed in 2012 between UAEU and Dassault Aviation.

A French, post-doctoral, researcher has been assigned to work full-time on the project for twelve months. The project involves scientific coordinators from the Electrical Engineering Department at UAEU and the Flight Dynamics Department at Dassault Aviation. Undergraduate and graduate students from UAEU will participate in the project.

His Excellency Prof. Mohamed Albaili, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (Provost), stated that, “the project provides a good opportunity for UAEU to build upon its sustainable partnership with Dassault Aviation by working together in this highly technical area where such systems are recognized worldwide. Our students will have a great opportunity to gain experience in advanced aeronautics and aerospace engineering.”

Mr. Philippe Perrin, Senior Vice President of Military Sales at France-based Dassault Aviation added that, “we have a long and outstanding experience with the UAE in general and, especially, with the world class university at UAEU. It is a real win-win situation as UAEU has proven skills in the field of Fault Tolerant Control Laws. We are sure that we will benefit mutually from this joint research. This research project is also a good opportunity to contribute to educational development in the country.”
