Mon, 6 June 2022
Under the ‘Yes to Volunteering’ initiative launched by His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), the Student Activities Department in the Student Affairs and Enrollment Section organized a lecture entitled, “Voluntary Work”. It was presented by Professor Mohammed Al-Kaabi from the Red Crescent Authority and was held in the presence of a number of male and female students in the College of Information Technology on the male campus in Al Ain.
The lecture aimed to encourage voluntary work as a way of developing and refining skills, as well as being a moral pillar which society can rely upon in times of crises and disaster, whether local or international. It shows UAEU’s commitment to voluntary work in the UAE.
Professor Al Kaabi, a lecturer at the Red Crescent Authority, stated that UAEU is proactive in supporting such community-based initiatives and is keen on forming the largest possible base of Emirati volunteers. This reflects the voluntary ethos instilled by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founder of the UAE. The sons and daughters of the UAE are responsible for spreading and developing this spirit of voluntary work and promoting its basic principles.
