As part of a move to strengthen cooperation in scientific research the United Arab Emirates University received a delegation from the University of Jyväskylä, Finland on Sunday 17^th May, 2015. The delegation was received in the Crescent Building on the main Al Ain campus.

Professor Dr. Mohamed Albaili, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (Provost), met with the visiting delegation in the presence of Dr. Jamal Al Nuaimi, Acting Dean of the College of Education, faculty members and heads of department. They discussed the prospect of cooperation in several areas, especially those related to educational development and teacher training.

Dr. Albaili pointed out that this meeting is part of a strengthening of partnerships with other international institutions and universities. As well as allowing for the exchange of experiences in the field of education and teacher training, this visit paves the way to meet future educational needs and to help the spread of knowledge throughout society. Such cooperation helps to make UAEU College of Education graduates more creative not only at the local level, but also regionally and globally.

The delegation from the University of Jyväskylä thanked the administration of UAEU (the UAE’s first national university) for their warm welcome and exchange of views. The Finnish university has a wealth of experience in education and seeks to share these experiences through closer links with higher education institutions in the UAE. This also helps to create an environment conducive to research and contributes positively to the promotion of academic cooperation in other sectors as well.
