His Excellency Abdallah Ghobash,Minister of State in the United Arab Emirates government, stressed that education across the UAE has improved in terms of learning technologies at every level thanks to the support of the national leadership. The development of teaching and learning has been at the forefront of the government’s strategic planning and priorities. This has resulted in an increase in the number of higher education institutions, both government and private, and created competition in terms of attracting students and improving academic targets to meet the need of the nation and society in a variety of disciplines. Such institutions meet the ambitions of students who seek a high quality and advanced higher education that is comparable to other universities worldwide.

He visited UAEU on Monday, November 9^th. He has been one of the first graduates when he gained a Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Business.

He was received by His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, Vice Chancellor of UAEU. He met with students and academics, learned about new developments in education and the accompanying development of new academic disciplines. All of which are in line with the university’s strategic vision for the future overseen by His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of UAEU. This is compatible with the vision of the UAE to foster creativity and innovation in every college and discipline, as well as strengthening research and encouraging faculty and students to pursue research. Research is one of the measures of an international standard university. Also the government made 2015 the UAE’s ‘Year of Innovation’ in order to further innovative and creative ideas to better develop the nation.

Abdallah Ghobashpointed out that UAEU has been, and will remain, an attractive option for UAE citizens as it is the leading academic institution with the best faculty and researchers. In addition it has state-of-the-art laboratories and modern academic facilities which make for a model academic learning environment. UAEU encourages study, research and innovation in order to achieve strategic national goals. The university was established by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan to be the leading national university and to attract as many citizens as possible. They in turn can contribute to the nation by being prepared, well-qualified professionals capable of assuming responsibility and contributing to national development plans and other programs. He also pointed out that since the first cohort from UAEU graduated the university has educated several batches of male and female graduates who have joined the labor market in many areas. These positions contribute to accelerating national development.
