Seminar Federal Civil Procedures Law.

The Private Law Department in the College of Law at the United Arab Emirates University organized a ‘New amendments to provisions of the Federal Civil Procedures Law’ seminar, on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015, on the Maqam campus. It was held in the presence of Dr. Mohammed Hassan, Dean of the College of Law, judges, professors and students from the college.

Dr. Abdullah Al Khatib, Head of the Organizing Committee and a member of faculty opened the seminar with a speech, saying, “UAEU is eager to link the theoretical and practical aspects of law by listening to specialists and judges in order to strive for academic excellence.”

The seminar discussed core amendments to Civil Procedures Law No. (11), 1992 and Law No. (10), 2014. The new law introduced a new office for case management instead of the court registry. This has necessitated the evaluation of these amendments in order to address problems that may arise due to their application.

The seminar was divided into two sessions: a jurisdiction session, chaired by Dr. Lafi Daradkeh, an associate professor in the College of Law. In it Dr. Abdullah Al Khatib spoke about the different types of jurisdiction and compared the jurisdiction of a legal department with other non-estimated lawsuits. Judge Mohamed Kamel Al Jundi from the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department also talked on the same subject.

The second session on new judicial declarations was chaired by Dr. Osama Badr, an associate professor, and Professor Ahmed Khalil, a professor in the College of Law. Judge Mohammed Mubarak Al Sabousi of the Dubai Courts discussed the work of the Case Management Office. The seminars ended with a discussion between students and professors before the participants were thanked.
