The College of Education at the UEAU
The College of Education at the United Arab Emirates University held the first meeting of its advisory board on Wednesday, October 21st, 2015, on the Maqam campus. It was held in the presence of Professor Mohamed Al Baili, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; Dr. Bernard Oliver, Dean of the College of Education; Dr. Jamal Al Nuaimi, vice dean of the college and other members of the advisory board. Professor Al Baili stressed the importance of the advisory board in the development of the college. This is part of UAEU’s strategy of forming advisory boards to contribute to the support of leadership and excellence in higher education at both the regional and global levels. Additionally UAEU seeks to meet the needs of the labor market, to support education in the UAE, and improve the abilities of graduates. The advisory board will also assist in the development of curricula and teaching and learning methodology. The board discussed curricular development, academic recognition and other initiatives. They further discussed developing an educational innovation center, student exchanges, research and enrollment. Dr. Najwa Al Hosani, an advisor to the Director of the Abu Dhabi Education Council, was appointed Chair of the Board; Ms. Mariam Al Qubaisi, Head of the Special Needs Sector at the Zayed Foundation for Humanitarian Care, was appointed as Deputy Chair of the Board. The advisory board includes: Ms. Noora Al Marri, Director of Special Education at the Ministry of Education; Mr. Mohammed Al Kaabi, Director of the Youth and Sports Facilities Department in Dubai; Ms. Sheikha Al Badi, Quality of Education Development Officer at the Abu Dhabi Education Council; Ms. Khawla Ahmed, Director of the Excellence Department at the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award; Dr. Bernard Oliver, Dean of the College of Education at UAEU; Dr. Jamal Al Nuaimi, Vice Dean of the College of Education at UAEU, Dr. Ali Al Naqbi, associate professor, and Dr. Abdulsalam Al Zaabi, Chair of the Physical Education Department.
