The second meeting of the Advisory Board of the College of Science at the United Arab Emirates University was held recently in Al Ain.

Dr. Mohamed Al Baili, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, welcomed the attendees and stressed the role of this board in keeping up with local and international developments in education and research in order to serve the university’s overall strategy and mission.

During the meeting, Al Yaziyah Al Dhaheri, Director of Planning in the Academic and Institutional Development Department, reviewed the development of UAEU during academic year 2014-2015. She talked about UAEU in general and the College of Science in particular. She mentioned major development in terms of programs and study plans that help to keep UAEU up-to-date on both local and global levels. Her speech was warmly received by members of the board including Dr. Ahmed Murad, Acting Dean of the College of Science, who was also in attendance.

The meeting included a brainstorming session to propose ideas for the next strategic plan, as well as ways to develop academic programs and projects such as the Scientific Innovation Park. Also mentioned was that Innovation Week will be at the end of November 2015.

Participating in the meeting were Sultan Al-Hajji, Vice President of Total E and P, UAE (Chair of the Advisory Board); Mohammed Mulla, Ministry of Energy; Salem Al Rashdi, Director of the Support Services Department at the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and Suhail Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Municipal Infrastructure and Assets Sector of Al Ain Municipality.
