As part of the UAEU’s mission to promote a wealth of knowledge among the university community, and to energize team spirit in its employees, the UAEU College of Science organized a scientific visit to the Al Ain Zoo Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Center recently for its team.
The visit was part of the Happy College program, launched by the college at the beginning of the academic year in order to create a happy and stimulating work environment to encourage creativity and innovation within the college, and to make happiness a permanent exercise and a lifestyle for all its employees and students. The goal is to achieve greater productivity in scientific research and community service in accordance with the highest international standards, and to adopt the values of happiness and positivity in all aspects of life, in support of the national program of happiness and positivity, which seeks to consolidate positivity as a core value in UAE society.
College of Science Dean, Professor Ahmed Murad, said that the college took it upon itself to provide opportunities that promote innovation and create a fertile environment for excellence in administrative work, given that the contribution of administrative officers is an essential part of the work carried out by the college to keep its customers happy, and that the college launched this program to support the university programs aimed at achieving positivity and happiness among staff, adding that this trip would be followed by a meeting with the staff to study the results of the visit.
The College of Science group toured the five interactive exhibitions on show: The Sheikh Zayed Tribute Hall, Abu Dhabi Desert Over Time, Abu Dhabi’s Living World, Looking to the Future and People of the Desert, to be transported through time and into the future, in an interactive tour to encourage communication with the environment, and the adoption of a more sustainable lifestyle.
The Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Center is the first building in the UAE to receive a Five Pearl rating and a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design platinum certification.
At the end of the visit, Professor Murad thanked the Deputy Director of Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre, Professor Afra Al Darmaki, the cultural guides, and the management staff, for their warm reception and kind hospitality during the visit.
