Chaired by Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan
His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University, will chair the second meeting of the university council for academic year 2015-2016 on Wednesday, January, 6th 2015, on the Al Ain campus.
The university council will address several important topics to help strengthen UAEU’s pursuit of leadership and excellence in higher education and scientific research at both regional and global levels. The council will focus on developing scientific research and innovation in order to promote the dissemination of knowledge and culture. They will strive to maintain academic excellence in accordance with high standards of quality control in terms of academic institutional accreditation. The council will also discuss the “2016 Year of Reading” initiative that seeks to promote knowledge and learning about other cultures through a series of initiatives organized by the university.
The university council includes His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; His Excellency Hussain Al Hammadi, Minister of Education; Her Excellency Noura Mohammed Al-Kaabi, Chief Executive Officer of the Abu Dhabi Media Zone Authority (twofour54); Her Excellency Aisha Abdullah Omran, Editor-in-Chief of Gulf Today; His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al-Hajeri, Chief Executive Officer of Tawazun Holdings; His Excellency Abdullah Nasser Al-Mansouri, Chairman of the Board of Al-Nasser Holdings: His Excellency Eissa Abdulfattah Kazim, Director of the Dubai International Financial Center; His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Ali Al Sheryani; His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, Chancellor of UAU and faculty members Dr. Butti Sultan Al-Muhairi (College of Law), Dr. Fatima Abdulbaqi Al-Jasmi (College of Medicine and Health Sciences), Dr. Asma Abubaker Al-Menhali (College of Science) and Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al-Suwaidi (College of Education).
