UAEU’s colleges honor awards winners for academic year 2015/2016

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) honored the faculty members and students who have won the distinguished scientific and research production awards for the current academic year 2015/2016. Also honored were the faculty members leaving the College. Presiding was Prof. Saif Qaydi, Dean of College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the College’s deputy deans, dean assistants and staff.  The event was held at the Business Center of the Crescent Building.

Prof. Saif Qaydi talked about the College's achievements for the academic year 2016/2015, and the role of the working groups of the College’s staff in making this academic year a successful and distinguished one. He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the parting faculty members for their outstanding efforts over the past years, and for their achievements, research, and sincere and hard work in service of the academic community of the College and the local and international communities. He also expressed his thanks and appreciation for the recipients of the distinguished scientific research awards from the faculty members and students as well as their efforts in scientific research, which greatly benefit the UAE community.

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences has embraced the Student Research Award initiative for the current year 2015/2016, and has allocated cash and non-cash awards to encourage the winners of students to conduct specialized scientific research to serve the community.

In the same context, the College of Education honored the winners in the Best Teaching Performance of Female Student-Teacher Competition. The College honored the cooperative female teachers and excellent students, and the school administrations involved in the training of female graduates for their efforts in benefiting the College’s students. Presiding was Dr. Bernard Oliver, Dean of College of Education, and attending were the College’s faculty members, staff, and students, and representatives of participating schools. This Competition is launched each semester to provide female graduates with an excellent opportunity to apply what they have learned during their studies in the College of Education.  The goal is to encourage them to give the best they can in the teaching field by using means of creativity and innovation to create a suitable learning environment.

This honoring comes in line with the University and State's strategy to produce citizens keen on leadership and excellence in scientific research, in order to promote the various institutions of the State, build partnerships with prestigious educational institutions, and enhance cooperation locally and internationally to achieve scientific integration.
