During the university’s annual convocation
The United Arab Emirates University held its annual convocation academic year 2016/2017, on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, Chancellor of UAEU and other members of the university community were all in the Great Hall on campus in Al Ain.
Dr. Al Noaimi stressed that UAEU was the nation’s leading university and had been since it was founded by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He pointed to the university’s achievements and thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, who supported the university project and ensured that the campus has state-of-the-art facilities and becomes is an exceptional learning environment.
He added that, “faculty make a difference. Their variety of backgrounds and cultures have contributed to transforming the university into a leading research university and producing the leaders of the future.” He went on to say that, “the United Arab Emirates University reaffirms its commitment to innovation, tolerance and happiness as we strive to build a diverse academic.”
During the convocation, Dr. Al Noaimi honored faculty who have received awards and faculty members who have published their research in the leading research journals. The event also included a speech by Dr. Andrée Sursock, Adviser at the European University Association, who talked about the challenges facing universities and how to overcome them.
