United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a country in which water is scarce may serve as a pilot region where innovation and efficient strategies for integrated water and land use management. Approaches and technologies may be implemented and tested both on a mid and long-term basis. Research on complete water cycle is one of the matters that requires investigative efforts and a contribution of technological solutions and management in the coming years. Dealing with a range of aspects related to the ecological quality, ground and surface waters, the development of suitable technologies for treating wastewater and water for human consumption and irrigation. Water resources availability and protection with respect to sustainability is a major research area. The United Arab Emirates University is facing those issues by having established the UAEU-National Water Center as a center of applied research and technology. The center will cooperate with governmental and private organizations.
