Norton Rose and the Faculty of Law (FOL) at United Arab Emirates University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on May 5, 2010 to enhance cooperation between them and create internship opportunities that provide students with the necessary legal skills to practice law.

Norton Rose Group is a leading international legal practice offering  a full business law service from offices across Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific.  The company has over 1,800 lawyers operating from 30 offices in Abu Dhabi, Amsterdam, Athens, Bahrain, Bangkok, Beijing, Brisbane, Brussels, Canberra, Dubai, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, London, Melbourne, Milan, Moscow, Munich, Paris, Perth, Piraeus, Prague, Rome, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo and Warsaw and from associate offices in Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta and Riyadh.

The MOU sets ground for the establishment of internship programs locally and internationally for FOL students at the different offices of Norton Rose.  These opportunities will help provide students with hands-on experiences that will increase their legal skills and enhance their understanding of law practices.

Professor Jassim Al Shamsi, Dean of the Faculty of Law, emphasized the importance of providing good training opportunities for students to prepare them for the legal job market and to contribute to creating a generation of highly qualified Emirati legal professionals.

Mr. Campbell Steedman, International Managing Partner at Norton Rose Abu Dhabi, commented: "We are honored to launch this partnership with the Faculty of Law - UAEU and to take our usual place in the development of the Emirati students' legal skills."

The iWIL Center congratulates the involved parties on the signing of the MOU and wishes both of them continuous success in all future endeavors that could assist in the development of the UAE's national workforce.
