This page explains what an Online Group is, how you can request one, and how to access my.uaeu Online Group Training resources.

What is an Online Group?

Online Groups are used by Departments, Committees and Student Associations, to share documents, hold online discussions etc etc in a private space - just for Group members. At the UAEU staff, faculty and students can request a group to be made for them inside http://my.uaeu.ac.ae

Note: my.uaeu Groups are not for teaching and learning. They are for administrative or non-curricula University purposes. For teaching and learning online, please consider using UAEU Blackboard - http://elearning.uaeu.ac.ae

Request Steps

In order to request a Group, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the website http://my.uaeu.ac.ae  and Login with your UAEU Webmail account
  2. Click on Groups in the top right corner 
  3. Then click click Request Group top left corner of screen
  4. Fill in the form fields - it should take about 5 mins mx. Some fields are:
    • Group Name &Group Title (can be the same info eg "My Committee Name", or "My Student Society")
    • Groups Description (what/who the group is for eg "This Group is for the Student Cycling Society to share information")
    • Group Category (choose your College or Department)
    • Access Restricted - all groups have restricted access, so new members must be approved by Group Leaders
    • Browse Control and Applications - normally no need to change anything here
    • Creation Comment - just put your name and date submitted eg Mohamed Al Dharwish, Submitted 24/04/09
    • Read the Policy Information and check the box if you agree
  5.  Click Request Group at the bottom of the page and your Request will be sent

Normally, New Requests are checked with Colleges and Units, and you will receive an email confirming approval or denial of your request. Then, once approved, you can add new members to the group.
