Student Counseling
The Student Counseling Center (SCC) provides individual and group counseling to students at the United Arab Emirates
University. Our counselors help students explore any academic or personal problems or concerns that they may be experiencing.
Some common issues that arise include adjusting to university life, time management issues, confusion about life or career
goals, anxiety, depression or dealing with grief and loss. Our Counseling Services utilize a service system that emphasizes
trust, respect, confidentiality, and compassion. The SCC team is committed to the wellbeing and betterment of our students
throughout their educational years at UAEU.

Special Needs Services
The Special Needs Services (SNS) Center ensures that all UAEU students with disabilities have access to educational
opportunities equal to their fellow students. Students who suspect that they have a disability or who are referred to the
Center for screening are encouraged to schedule a consultation appointment with the director of the Center in order to explore
whether a formal evaluation for a possible disability is needed.
Any student with a documented disability may choose to access the services provided by the SNS by submitting the required
registration forms. The SNS welcomes all inquiries about its services.
If a graduate student has a disability, it is helpful to let the Special Needs Services Center know as soon as the student joins the
university. Following the student’s contact with the Center, an initial “intake” interview will be arranged. The student will need
to provide a completed Disability Support Application Form together with evidence of his/her disability, medical condition, or
specific learning difficulty. Such as a doctor’s letter or educational psychologist’s report which contains a clear statement of the
disability and recommended adjustments/accommodations.
