Dr. Hala Elhoweris

Dr. Hala Elhoweris is the Special Education Department Chair at the United Arab Emirates University holding a doctorate degree in Educational Psychology with emphasis in Special Education. Dr. Elhoweris research area of interest including gifted education, inclusion, diversity, assessing and diagnosing students with exceptionalities. She gave several presentations in various international and regional conferences on these issues. Additionally, she published several research articles and book chapters related to these issues.
Dr. Elhoweris served as a consultant for the Ministry of Education, Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEK), Zayed Higher Organization, and Hamdan Foundation on several programs related to special education and gifted education. She served as a reviewer, guest reviewer and an editorial board member for several scholarly journals in her area of expertise. Dr. Elhoweris is a collaborator of the Global Cooperative Synergy Group.
The vision of this group is to develop in young people the ability and the commitment to think globally and act locally to solve STEM and social problems through Real Engagement in Active Problem Solving (REAPS). Dr. Elhoweris is a recipient of international awards in the area of Education. Additionally, Dr. Elhoweris is a recipient of UAEU College of Education Excellence in Service Award in 2014 and 2021.
