As you can see from the above diagrams that in quarter three and four of 2013, when SourceOne was implemented, more
than half of the attachments processed were duplicates. The second scenario shows the same information in terms of
storage space.
The below graphs show the number of duplicate documents found when we ran shortcutting against our exchange 2010
environment.
Archiving also provides us a compliance feature where every e-mail is first saved in the archive before it reaches the user.
Even if the users delete their email, it still remains in the archive. This feature is especially useful in accessing emails of
employees who have already left the university or for litigation purposes. Currently this feature is enabled for select staff
and faculty members. Below are some statistics from SourceOne when this feature was enabled ( journaling).
