Within the framework of continuous improvement the UAEU announced the launch of the website, aimed entirely for UAEU Alumni. The University established this site in the context of the strategic vision of H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Chancellor of the UAE University to strengthen cultural and scientific relations between the University and its community, and Arab and Foreign institutions. The University was keen to open an effective communication channel with its Alumni to obtain their feedback and views regarding its academic programs, cooperative opportunities, and ways to provide support for UAEU Alumni.
Dr. Abdullah Saad Al Khanbashi, UAE University Vice Chancellor stated: “The Universities desire to keep in constant touch with its Alumni resulted in the creation of the Alumni website as an extension of the main UAEU website. Using this medium follows the modern e-communication needs of Alumni and is in keeping with the scientific and knowledge revolution being witnessed by the UAE.
It also achieves one of the most important strategic objectives of the University, which is to reach out to the UAE community at large.”
It should also be mentioned that the website offers various and unique university services, while providing a central database for the over 52,000 UAEU Alumni. The site allows Alumni to update their personal and professional profile, sign up for a lifelong email address, and interact with the rest of the Alumni and university community. Alumni will have the opportunity to view various university events and activities conducted both on and off the UAEU campus, with these services being available 24/7. ID cards will be issued for Alumni to enable them to access university services and use the scientific and research facilities, laboratories, libraries, and even meet with faculty members.
Ms. Muna Al Hammadi, Executive Director in the Vice Chancellor’s Office and the Alumni Project Manager (herself an UAEU Alumni) said: “The main aim of establishing and launching the Alumni website was to strengthen the interaction between the universities community and its faculty members and staff, while confirming that Alumni are an integral part of the UAEU family. Alumni can expect a weekly newsletter that includes all the activities and events held by the University, and online vacancies in government departments and the private sector will be posted. Opportunities for continuing education, as well as the UAEU’s own Masters and PhD degrees, will be published, with additional information on scholarships within the UAEU and other regional and international universities provided.”
