The Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies is committed to enhancing UAEU's standing as the leading research-intensive university of the UAE. Besides fostering links with external funding bodies, the DVCRGS currently coordinates two major internally-funded, university-wide grant competitions, run in collaboration with the National Research Foundation and Sultan Qaboos University respectively.
The UAEU has been successful in establishing strong partnerships with institutions, organizations and companies in the public as well as the private sector of the UAE, for the purpose of research in fields that are of crucial concern in UAE society. Collaborative projects undertaken with government and other organizations are e.g. related to oil and gas, water, health care, agricultural productivity, environmental protection, traffic safety, rehabilitation of concrete structures, and many other important issues.
An active research network was likewise established with key international organizations in countries such as Japan, the USA, the UK, Australia, France, Germany, Korea, Singapore, Sudan, Qatar and Oman, in addition to partnerships with leading universities and research centers in the region and the world.
