The College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) organized a press conference to announce the 5^th International Conference on Earth Observation for Global Changes (EOGC 2015) and the 7^th Geo-information Technologies for Natural Disaster Management (GiT4NDM 2015) conference, in the business center at UAEU on Sunday, 14^th June, 2015. The press conference was held in the presence of Professor Mohamed Albaili, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Professor Saif Al Qaydi, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and faculty. The joint EOGC/GiT4NDM 2015 Conference will be held by UAEU in collaboration with the Waterloo Institute for Disaster Management.

Professor Albaili was quoted as saying, “This joint EOGC/GiT4NDM 2015 Conference is the result of an agreement between UAEU and one of its strategic partners. This improves the university’s position in terms of academic research.” He added that, “such conferences help people to benefit from research that monitors disasters, facilitate disaster management and thus reduces risk.”

Professor Saif Al Qaydi explained that this joint conference was being held in an Arab country for the first time. He went on to say that, “we are proud that UAEU is the host for this conference as it has the infrastructure to host experts and researchers from around the world.”

The joint EOGC/ GiT4NDM 2015 Conference will be held at UAEU from 8^th – 10^th December, 2015. The UAE’s central geographic location, its economic reputation, potential in terms of transportation and the availability of excellent services will all contribute to attracting as many delegates as possible to this event. A group of prominent figures in the field of global change and geographic information technology for the management of natural disasters will participate. There will be speakers from several countries, such as the United States, various European countries, Canada, Japan, China and elsewhere. There will also be a number of discussion sessions and workshops during the conference, in addition to an exhibition of specialized technology, geographic information systems and earth observation systems.
