The College of Science at the United Arab Emirates University recently obtained a license to use radioactive materials from the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation.
Dr. Ahmed Murad, Dean of the College of Science said that, “this license will give students the opportunity of training in radiological measurement plants and applying radioactive sources in nuclear physics experiments. Additionally, they can use x-ray devices in the analysis of substances in the Physics, Geology and Chemistry Departments.”
Meanwhile, the college launched the science espresso program to provide support to students in their courses. This program includes faculty, assistants and graduate students to help students from any faculty by supporting and guiding them in difficult areas in subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry and others.
This is part of the university’s role to provide academic and technical support for students and to train graduates who will be able to take responsibility in their working environment in order to serve the community. It is hoped that it will also raise the quality of higher education and scientific research programs in the field of nuclear energy research.
