Issuing Visas

Following is a list of the main services offered by the UAEU Immigration Section and the documents required for each individual service (for other transactions please and details please see our handbook): 

Entry work visa for the new employee

Required for all expat hires (unless transferring from another government agency within the UAE)

Required documents:

  • A valid (minimum 6 months) passport photocopy for the Employee.
  • Recent photo of the Employee
  • Employee Placement Form which will be provided by HR

Entry Permit (Residence) for the employee’s dependants

  • Residence entry permits are issued pursuant to the UAE residence law (provided the profession and salary conditions are satisfied).
  • Residence entry permits are issued for the dependents of the University employee (spouse and children under 18 years old*)

Required documents

  • A valid (minimum 6 months) passport photocopy for each dependent.
  • The sponsor’s passport photocopy including the residence visa
  • Marriage contract authenticated by UAE embassy and foreign ministry in home country
  • Dependents’ birth certificates authenticated by UAE embassy and foreign ministry in home country
  • Recent photo for each family member
  • Salary statement (provided by UAEU Immigration Section)
  • Dhs. 130 visa fees for each passport (note: fees subject to change)

New Residence Visa for the Employee

Once the employee is in country, the HR Department will direct the new hire to the Immigration Section to start the process for UAE Residency

Required documents

  • Medical test certificate
  • A photocopy of the health insurance ID
  • The original passport
  • One recent photo of the employee
  • The original entry permit

Residence Visa for New Employee’s dependants

Once the new hire has completed the residency process, he/she should report to the Immigration Section to start the UAE Residency process for dependents

Required documents

  • Medical test certificate for spouse and dependents above 18 years 
  • A copy of the health insurance ID
  • The original marriage contract authenticated by the UAE embassy and the foreign ministry in home country
  • Dependents’ original birth certificates authenticated by the UAE embassy and the foreign ministry in home country
  • Family members’ original passports
  • One recent photo for each family member
  • A photocopy of the employee’s passport including the residence visa
  • A salary statement (provided by the Passports Section)
  • The visa fees based on the residence duration as specified in the table (1) below (note: fees are subject to change)

*Please note that entry and residence permits are only issued to dependents above (18) years as follows:

  • Single (unmarried) daughters
  • Males who pursue their studies in the UAE
